What to expect: Built by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a grand hotel in 1919, the Pennsylvania today offers well-priced rooms and a prime location. The handsome lobby hums with convention-goers, those with business in the nearby Garment District, musicians playing concerts at Madison Square Garden, and their fans. Train and subway connections are easily accessible across the street at Penn Station.
